ONE TO TWO WEEKS BEFORE TREATMENT

  1. Avoid Blood-Thinning Agents:

    • If approved by your healthcare provider, avoid medications and supplements that can thin the blood, such as:

    • Aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), and other NSAIDs.

    • Fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, garlic supplements, and St. John’s wort.

  2. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is a safe alternative for pain relief.

  3. Limit Alcohol and Caffeine:

    • Avoid alcohol and excessive caffeine consumption for at least 24-48 hours before your appointment to minimize the risk of bruising.

  4. Pause Skin Treatments:

    • Refrain from scheduling chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or laser treatments on the area to be treated.

  5. Avoid Dental Procedures:

    • Schedule any dental treatments at least 2 weeks before or after your filler appointment to reduce the risk of filler migration or infection.

THREE DAYS BEFORE TREATMENT

  1. No Waxing or Hair Removal:

    • Refrain from waxing, threading, or using depilatory creams in the treatment area.

  2. Stop Using Certain Skincare Products:

    • Discontinue retinoids, exfoliants, or other products that may make your skin sensitive.

DAY OF TREATMENT

  1. Arrive with Clean Skin:

    • Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and avoid applying makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or any skincare products on the day of your treatment.

  2. Stay Hydrated:

    • Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated, as this can help optimize results.

  3. Avoid Exercise:

    • Do not engage in strenuous exercise or activities that may elevate your heart rate prior to your treatment.

  4. Inform our team if you:

    • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.

    • Have a history of neuromuscular disorders or allergies to botulinum toxin.

    • Are taking any medications, particularly antibiotics or blood thinners.

Additional Notes

  1. If you have a history of cold sores and the treatment area includes your lips, you may need an antiviral medication to prevent an outbreak.

  2. Plan your treatment at least 2 weeks before any important social events to allow any potential swelling or bruising to subside.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

  1. Expect Mild Symptoms:

    • Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, firmness, or bruising at the injection sites is normal and should resolve within a few days.

    • You may also feel small lumps or bumps under the skin, which will settle as the filler integrates.

  2. Apply Ice if Needed:

    • Use a cold compress or ice pack wrapped in a clean cloth to reduce swelling or discomfort. Avoid applying ice directly to the skin.

    • Refrain from applying makeup, creams, or other skincare products to the treated area for at least 24 hours.

  3. Stay Upright:

    • Sleep with your head elevated and avoid lying flat for the first night to minimize swelling.

  4. Avoid Alcohol and Intense Activity:

    • Do not consume alcohol or engage in strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.

  5. No Extreme Temperatures:

    • Avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, or exposure to excessive heat or cold.

    • Protect the treated area from the sun by wearing sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and avoiding prolonged exposure.
